IN LESS THAN AN HOUR

PERHAPS I'M THE ONLY
taxidermist who has fretted over doing a set of detachable antlers. If so, you
can turn to another article. But if you are also waking up at night, baffled by
the best way for cutting off a client's trophy elk antlers, keep reading. My new
procedure will help you.
You will need 14 inches of
H-inch i.d. (inside diameter) square tubing, and 12 inches of H-inch square
key-stock. The key-stock will have to be ground down slightly to slide inside of
the square tubing. I ground mine on a bench grinder to .492 inch, and it
produced a perfect fit. These items can be obtained from any welding or machine
shop.
If you don't want to take the
time to size the key-stock, simply pick up the H-inch i.d. tubing from a welding
buddy and order a detachable antler kit from one of the taxidermy supply houses.
