The Breakthrough Award Winners
2001 - 2002

In the fall of 2001 we announced our offering of the Breakthrough Award for Judges' Choice Best of Show to state, regional, national and international competitions. A few shows were eligible in late 2001, but it was in 2002 that 34 shows accepted our invitation. This first full year of the award was an outstanding success. A total of $4,350 was given away in cash, over $1,700 in award plaques, for a total of $6,050, which was given to Judges' Choice Best of Show winners.

This is our way of thanking the many artist of our profession, and perhaps giving them additional motivation.

The Breakthrough Award for Judges' Choice Best of Show signifies the highest achievement a competitor can reach for a single entry in competition. We are proud to be the sponsors of this award, and congratulate the winners of each of the competitions listed for reaching this pinnacle in taxidermy. Untold hours in study, research and experience are needed to reach this point, but it also takes a special talent to put it all together. We applaud each of them for winning this highest of honors.
