Breakthrough publisher Larry Blomquist began asking me for an article about sewing during a telephone conversation nearly two years ago. He has also mentioned it several times at various taxidermy shows. On November 17, 2003, at 1:56 p.m., Larry sent an email suggesting ten different topics for “Back to Basics” articles. Sewing was number one on the list. Four weeks ago, Larry even sent a handwritten note: “How about an article on different methods of sewing?”

It is now apparent that Larry Blomquist will not give up until he gets what he wants.

I guess it is now also apparent to Larry that I have been avoiding doing the sewing article, and it’s true that I have indeed been reluctant to attack this project for several reasons. One reason is my dislike for sewing. Another excuse I can use is that sewing is a no-brainer and nobody really wants to talk about it. Dang it! The real reason is that I only know how to do two different kinds of stitches, and I have used one of those two on everything I have ever mounted.
