Breakthrough
publisher Larry Blomquist began asking me for an article about sewing during
a telephone conversation nearly two years ago. He has also mentioned it
several times at various taxidermy shows. On November 17, 2003, at 1:56
p.m., Larry sent an email suggesting ten different topics for “Back to
Basics” articles. Sewing was number one on the list. Four weeks ago, Larry
even sent a handwritten note: “How about an article on different methods of
sewing?”

article, and it’s true that I have indeed been reluctant to attack this
project for several reasons. One reason is my dislike for sewing. Another
excuse I can use is that sewing is a no-brainer and nobody really wants to
talk about it. Dang it! The real reason is that I only know how to do two
different kinds of stitches, and I have used one of those two on everything
I have ever mounted.
