MOUNTING A Turkey
PHOTOS AND PROCEDURE by Cally Morris
WRITTEN by Larry Blomquist

Two years ago, we completed a series of articles with Cally Morris on mounting turkeys, which has become one of the most popular series we have ever published. After the three articles ran, Cally said, “There is much more we need to cover in future articles.”

One of the most difficult poses for a strutting turkey is a full-shingled strut (above). Cally has mastered a procedure for this popular pose, and that is the focus of this article. All of the preliminary steps for this pose were covered in his 3-part article, “Mounting a Strutting Turkey,” in Breakthrough Issues 66, 67, and 68, which covered the process of mounting a smooth breasted strutting turkey. The skinning, fleshing, and preparation methods were in Issue 66, and his method of wiring and putting together a turkey were in Issue 67. The same procedure for mounting a strutting turkey are followed that were shown on pages 14-18 of the strutting article in Issue 68.

This article actually picks up from Step 30 on page 18 of Issue 68...
