THIS LEOPARD AND NYALA PIECE has more meaning to me than a customer piece because it is comprised of my own trophies. I shot the leopard in Zimbabwe in July 2002 after 23 days of hunting. I accidentally killed the nyala when my shot, that was aimed at a big bull, glanced off a mopane tree and hit this small female instead. After my professional hunter unwittingly cut the throat of the nyala, I made lemonade out of lemons by using the nyala with the leopard as a kill.

It’s nearly impossible for taxidermists to mount their own trophies, but writing this article provided me the impetus to get to work and to create this beautiful piece for myself. Over a year ago I had promised Larry Blomquist I would write an article for BREAKTHROUGH. Now I could fulfill the promise I made to him as well as get my own trophies mounted. (Thanks, Larry!)
