On the Cover
ON THE COVER: Siberian Tiger, by Ken Walker
This cover features the work of Canadian taxidermist Ken Walker. A series of articles by Ken, covering carving mannikins, carcass casting, and sculpting, begins in this issue on page 24. This Siberian tiger was mounted on a custom form using these processes. The tiger came from an Alberta zoo, and was mounted in 1996 as an entry in the International Taxidermy Competition, in Calgary, Alberta. BREAKTHROUGH publisher Larry Blomquist was one of the judges. The tiger not only received a Best of Category award, but also Peoples Choice Best of Show and Judges' Choice Best of Show, the first of many more Ken would win in years to follow.
