I’ve been building on my viewpoints concerning this subject for a long time. It is one of my favorite comments whenever I see skins mounted on mannikins that are three sizes too large. Where did the notion ever get started that bigger is always better? When I was an Army brat I once lived in El Paso, Texas, on the Fort Bliss army base. Those Texans believed that everything in the Lone Star state was bigger. Evidently, that mentality has spread to the rest of the country. “Bigger” has become an American way of life. We like big SUVs and big houses. You can’t even order a cheeseburger without someone asking if you would like your order “super-sized.”

Once I remember stopping for lunch on the way to a taxidermy show with Ken Edwards and his daughter Kelly. The waitress at the restaurant was describing the options and asked me if I wanted soup or salad. She sputtered it out so ...
