This Fish is often mistaken for largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) and smallmouth bass (Micropteru dolomieu). Many characteristics are intermediate between largemouths and smallmouths, so much so that until the 1930s, ichthyologists regarded spotted bass as hybrids or another type of smallmouth. This beautiful fish is often painted to look like one of above mentioned cousins but if you study the unique spotting/ coloration you will find there is a lot of differences....
