HAVING LIVED MY LIFE
AROUND THE PACIFIC northwest coast, I’ve always been intrigued with the
beauty of the native habitat. As a kid, I spent hours taking molds of
barnacles, rocks, and sea life. I also molded some various types of seaweed
that grew on the rocks—with mixed results. I wanted to come up with a cost
effective method to quickly cover a base with the leafy algae-ridden seaweed
so commonly found on the coastline. After experimenting on a few clients’
pieces (yeah, we all do it!), I found myself satisfied with the following
