ALASKA LOCALS SEEM TO REGARD this salmon as a second-class citizen of the salmon family. It doesn’t have the sheer fighting power of a king salmon, nor the acrobatics and palatability of a silver, and not even the contrast of colors of a sockeye, nevertheless, a chum salmon is a noble fish.
