DESERT TORTOISES (Gopherus agassizii) ARE found in both the Mojave and Sonoran deserts in California, Nevada, Arizona and Old Mexico. Although there are slight differences in desert tortoises from the Mojave and Sonoran deserts, they are considered the same species.
