The
World Shows Sculpting Competition

IN ADDITION TO PROPERLY FLESHED AND treated skins, the
forms we mount on are the foundations of taxidermy. When the hallmark court
decision was ruled on that supported copyrights for taxidermy sculptures,
the future of our industry was sustained for quality taxidermy sculptures
and new positions and sizes. This ruling preserved the value of the
sculptures produced by gifted artists in our profession. It maintained the
incentive to sculpt and produce the many new forms that come into our
marketplace each year.
Since the first live sculpting competition
at the 1997 World Championships, this has been one of the most followed
events at the shows. Each competitor has up to 25 hours, over a three-day
period, to work on his or her piece. World Show attendees can watch the
