Color Schemes
Part V: The Art in Taxidermy

LAST TIME WE HAD A LOOK AT REPETITION. NOW WE will focus our attention to color schemes, which is actually a continuation of the study of repetition. We create color schemes by repeating colors and using similar colors.

Colors can impact a composition in many ways. The emotional impact of a composition can be enhanced by the use of color. For example, if we were depicting an animal in a snow scene and wanted to further strengthen the element of cold, we would choose "cool colors" as opposed to "warm" ones. When an artist paints shadows in the snow he will use blue to create them. Hollywood cinematographers...
