QDMA Whitetail Competition
March 15-16,2002
THE FIRST ANNUAL Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) Grand Masters Whitetail Taxidermy Competition will be held March 15-16, 2002, during the QDMA National Convention in Athens, Georgia. The competition coordinators are Breakthrough publisher Larry Blomquist and well known taxidermist and sculptor Matt Thompson. Assisting them will be Georgia's own Best in World champion Sallie Dahmes. Two of the most experienced judges in the country will judge the event, Cary Cochran of Millersburg, Ohio, and John Mathews of Waldorf, Maryland.
QDMA executive director Brian Murphy is giving this competition center stage at the QDMA Sportsman's show on Saturday, March 16. Thousands of avid whitetail hunters from around the United States will be attending the show. For taxidermists, there is no better place to show the hunting public what quality whitetail mounts are all about.
Safari Club International has also jumped aboard as the major sponsor of the event.
The Best of Show winner will receive $750.00 in cash and a free, quarter-page black and white ad in the QDMA magazine, Quality Whitetails, for the three remaining issues of 2002. All Best of Category winners will receive $250.00 cash and be featured in national publications, including Breakthrough, Safari Times, and Quality Whitetails.
